USING datepicker in sqldatasource filter parameter in asp.net

Dear all,
I am using a datepicker in my web application.I need to add the selected value of the date picker like 03/31/2008 in the filterExpression of a Sqldatasource.What to assign for Property=" ?????".Is it the DateValue or any other value of the datepicker.when we select a date from the datepicker is it in the string form or date form.Please let me know as it was very urgent....
